SOUTH EAST ASIA LOADS UP ON DEFENSE

Defense & Security 2013 provides multiple business opportunities Indonesia is buying submarines from South Korea and coastal radar systems from China and the United States. Vietnam is getting submarines and combat jets from Russia, while Singapore - the world's fifth-largest weapons importer - is adding to its sophisticated arsenal. Thailand plans to increase defense expenditure to modernize and upgrade their equipment in all three services. The Kingdom is being driven by modernization initiatives in order to avoid border disputes, and security threats. As a result the country is acquiring the latest technology in homeland security equipment.

James Hardy, Asia Pacific editor for ‘HIS Janes Weekly’, noted that, “Economic development is pushing Thailand to spend money on defense to protect investments which cover sea lanes and exclusive economic zones.” And as Southeast Asian economies have boomed, defense spending in the area has grown 42 percent in real terms from 2002 to 2011, (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute)

Defense & Security 2013 – your target  of opportunity in Asia Pacific

DEFENSE & SECURITY 2013 will rank as a very special window of opportunity for defense manufacturers as the show has risen to become one of the most important Tri-service exhibitions in the region. Accompanying displays from many of the world’s leading manufacturers a series of Conferences and Networking Events will contribute to make the show a special occasion that’s not to be missed.

Currently almost every country in South-East Asia has embarked on a defense procurement program, making it one of the fastest-growing regions for defence spending in the world. More than 400 world leading defence and internal security-related companies will be exhibiting at the 2013 event and over 10,000 visitors from 50 countries are expected to attend. There will also be 15 National Pavilions and over 200 official and non-official delegations (especially from ASEAN) will include Ministers of Defence and their special representatives.

Many of the world’s top Defense and Security manufacturers have already confirmed their participation at Defense & Security 2013 – some of which are returning for the 4th or 5th time. With positive feedback from previous shows, companies such as  Lockheed Martin, Saab, MBDA, Trijicon, Colt, SIG Sauer, DSM, Brahmos, Terma are gearing up for record business.
